Free Design Resources and Copywriting for Nonprofits

GatherKit Free Design Resources and Copywriting for Nonprofits

The rise of social media has made it easier for nonprofits to reach audiences through customized content. But not everyone has the funds to hire a graphic designer, and making changes to the design can be time-consuming. There are many free design tools available that can help meet nonprofit needs. The sites below provide templates, customization options, and free use for your next nonprofit project.

For free design resources:

  1. Canva – We love Canva. It’s a great graphic design tool that makes creating social media content easy and fast. They even allow you to create some animations. They have great templates to choose from for many types of brands.
  2. Piktochart – If you want to make infographics quickly and easily, check out the free design resource: Piktochart. It can help with infographics, presentations, and printable images using their themed templates.
  3. Pixlr – If you need to edit a photo but don’t have the software, try Pixlr Online Photo Editor. It closely replicates what you would find in Photoshop, except that it’s all in your browser and free.
  4. Pexels and Unsplash – If you don’t have great photos (or enough) and no budget for commercial photography, check out these two websites. Photographers upload images that are commercially free to use.
  5. The Noun Project and Flaticon – If you need some icons for your website, check out these two sites.

For copywriting:

  1. GatherKit – This is actually our own software. GatherKit is a free tool that helps you gather your content for web projects. You can also use it for planning your blog content, using our approval process tags to push content from “In progress” to “Published.”
  2. Rytr or WordHero – Got writer’s block? Rtyr and Wordhero are AI-generated writing assistants. They can help with outlines, descriptions, blog ideas, and more.

The internet has made it easier than ever for people to share free design resources and copywriting. Using these tools can be an asset for any nonprofit and we hope this list helps with your next graphic design needs.
